About Me..
Dawn Eichin
So why work with me?
As a Gen-X therapist, I am often described as highly relatable. Not too old, not too young…just right. I enjoy working with persons of all ages, all stages, all walks of life. My experience as a human and fellow traveler over the past several decades uniquely qualifies me in this field of work.
I am a mother, sister, daughter, friend. I have experienced loss and heartbreak, just like you. I am a stressed out working professional and parent. I have failed and succeeded. As a woman of a “certain age”, I have developed an interest in and commitment to supporting and promoting women’s health and wellness. As a mother I care deeply about postpartum and pediatric work as well as parenting support and guidance. As a citizen of the world, I am a lifelong learner and extremely invested in social justice. I consider myself a devoted, learning, evolving ally on all fronts.
As a former emergency management professional and disaster responder, I have had the privilege of traveling the country supporting communities in crisis and helping survivors get to the next step in recovery. I have worked with and for the professional first responder community as a partner and also as a mental health provider. I have real understanding of the impact of secondary trauma and compassion fatigue.
I have experience working with law enforcement, active-duty military members and their families as well as veterans. I have had exposure to and involvement with grief and loss, supporting the bereaved as well as the intense experience of caregivers. I have a unique perspective and skill set to bring into the therapy arena.
If you choose to work with me, you can expect…
A casual “come as you are” environment. Psychoeducation... I am extremely enthusiastic about my work and I love to share information! A sense of humor, stories about my dogs, optimism as well as realism, unconditional acceptance and support, perspective, cognitive reframing and reality testing….and above all, a profound belief in your capabilities, strength and resilience.
I know from experience that therapy can be scary, but it can also turn into a precious, fantastic journey. I am so honored to be able to do this work and walk your journey as a partner. I deeply respect the hesitance and questions and uncertainty you may feel when thinking about finally taking that step forward toward change.
It is a big decision to make but please know that it is a worthwhile investment in your wellness. It takes a great deal of courage to be vulnerable and ask for help. I would be happy to talk through any questions or concerns you may have to help you decide the right direction for you. Feel free to reach out via email anytime at Dawn@taprootwellness4you.org
